Joining an academy
How parents, coaches and athletes request to join, and what approval unlocks.
Parents, coaches and athletes all belong to an academy. That link is what places results under the right club, lets coaches enter athletes into competitions, and lets a parent enrol their children.
Requesting to join during signup
If you choose Coach or Athlete at signup, finding your academy is part of the flow. Search by name, select it, and your request is created at the same moment your account is.
Parents joining an academy
Parents are not asked for an academy at signup, because a family often decides later. Open your profile and use Join an academy in the Academies card: search for the club, then press Join on its row.
Approval matters more for a parent than it looks. Until an academy owner approves you, you cannot add any of your children there — being an approved parent is what unlocks that academy in the athlete screens.
Requesting to join later
Already have an account? Open the academy from the Academies page and press Request to join, then pick whether you are joining as a parent, a coach or an athlete.
The athlete option there is for adults who manage their own account. A child under 18 is never requested from the academy page — that happens under My athletes, once you are an approved parent.
What the academy owner sees
Your request lands in the Requests tab on their academy page, showing your name, your email, the role you asked for, and when you asked.
A request for a child looks slightly different: it names the child, carries a Child profile badge, and shows which parent asked, along with their email. There is no account behind that request, so approving it adds the child to the academy without granting anyone a login.
They can approve or decline. For an adult, approving grants the role and adds them to the member list in a single step, so there is never a gap where you are approved but still locked out.
If your request is declined
A declined request is not permanent. You can request to join the same academy again — the owner sees the earlier request rather than a fresh one, so it is worth speaking to them first about what changed. The same is true for a child's request.
Belonging to more than one academy
Coaches often work across clubs, and families move between them. Request to join each one separately; each owner approves their own academy independently, and the memberships do not affect each other.
A child can be linked to more than one academy too — useful when they train at one club and compete for another.
Checking your status
Your profile lists every academy you have requested, with a badge showing whether it is awaiting approval, approved, or declined. Your children's academies and their statuses are listed under My athletes.
