Business verification
How academy owners and event organisers get verified, and what happens when an application is approved.
Academies and organiser companies are not self-serve. Both are created by MatComp only after a business verification application has been reviewed and approved by an administrator.
This exists because these accounts hold real responsibility — an academy owner approves who can represent their club, and an organiser publishes events that families pay to attend.
What gets created
The application is not just a permission request. Approving it is what brings the entity into existence.
| Application type | What approval creates |
|---|---|
| Academy owner | Your academy, with you as its owner, plus a parent organisation if you named one |
| Event organiser | Your organiser company, which every event you publish is filed under |
Before you start
Have these to hand:
- Your registered business name, exactly as it appears on your ABN registration
- Your ABN — we validate the ATO checksum as you type
- Your business address and a contact phone number
- A proof document: an ASIC extract, ABN registration, or certificate of registration
Accepted document formats are PDF, JPG and PNG, up to 10MB each. You can attach up to five.
The application
Business details
The registered entity behind your account. This is what the administrator checks your documents against, so the legal name must match exactly.
What we'll create
The academy or organiser company itself — its name and address. Academy owners can also name a parent organisation here if the academy is part of a larger group.
Proof of registration
Attach your documents. Only you and the reviewing administrator can open them; they are never publicly accessible.
Review and submit
Check every section, confirm the details are true and correct, and submit. The confirmation is recorded with a timestamp.
After you submit
Your application goes into the administrator queue. You can follow it from Profile → My applications, which shows a timeline: Draft, Submitted, Under review, then Approved.
If changes are requested
An administrator can send an application back with a written reason — a mismatched trading name, or a document that is too old to be useful.
That reason appears on your profile and at the top of the application when you reopen it. Edit the same application and resubmit it; you do not start again. The administrator sees the full history, which works in your favour on a second look.
Once approved
The role appears on your account immediately, and:
- Academy owners — your academy exists and is searchable. Coaches and athletes can now find it when they sign up, and their join requests come to you.
- Event organisers — your company exists and you can publish events straight away.
Additional academies or companies
Every entity is verified individually. Opening a second location means a second application, reviewed the same way as the first.
